Research Internship – Changemakers
- Are you passionate about social change?
- Do you like the idea of writing up non-fiction stories and want to be better at it?
- Do you like journalistic research and want a chance to broadcast it?
Then apply to join our team of research interns at the ChangeMakers
The ChangeMakers is a podcast series in development. When in production it will be the world’s first global podcast series telling stories from the field about social change. We delve into campaigns and conflicts from around the world, find and interview key players, and tell their story while also drawing out the lessons of what they learnt.
Our research interns meet on a weekly basis at the University of Sydney (Mondays from 5-6pm) and are mentored by team leader Dr Amanda Tattersall, to develop the background research for the stories in the podcast. There is expectation of 4 hours a week of work, which encompass many different self-directed tasks.
Students will learn the skills of how to develop these stories while engaging in interesting research. The role is an ongoing one, and all students who participate in the internship for a minimum of 6 months will be provided with a reference letter on completion.
The podcast host and mentor to the interns is Amanda Tattersall one of Sydney’s most experienced campaigners. She co-founded GetUp.org.au and the Sydney Alliance, while also writing the first global book on coalition strategy. She teaches urban geography at the University of Sydney and politics at UTS.
